It's still early when the reveille is sound, but captain Satlin seems already mostly packed, a couple of minutes later he walks out the tent with his gear. You hear him being greated by stablehand that has brought the donkey's and loads his possessions.
When you get out of the tent you notice that again two bags like what your tents where in are loaded on the packdonkey, and a new basket.
As soon as the last items have been packed and loaded captain Draga shows up
"Good morning.
Your work is still the same, we haven't gotten any new information overnight, only one last thing, you best cross the valley before going over the dam, this side is mostly big rocks and not passable with the donkeys. On the left you can probably find a path over rock and dirt"
"Good luck"
Captain Satlin salutes to Captain Draga and then rides away.
You move down into the valley, cross the stoney dry riverbed and when you aproach the dam on this side you see it's a lot less rockgrey
At the foot of the dam Satlin stops, dismounts and looks at you a short moment and then starts climbing the dam, leading the donkey. Satlin tries to keep as much as possible to the rocks, and soon you notice why as for the first time the soil gives way under a foot, and quite regularly a foot or hoof sinks deep into the soil till halfway up.
There when Satlin takes his first step on the soil to cross over to the next rock his foot just keeps going down, he tries to move back and get his balance back, and his donkey bray's and stiffens as a gaping hole forms where you where planning to cross. And Satlins other food slips and he slides into the hole, but he manages to hold on to the reigns of his donkey as he falls and then only his head and shoulders are still above the rock, one hand on the reign the other grabbing a ridge while he grasps for air.

Lepus was ore than a little grumpy at having to get up at reveille, but then that isn't exactly an unusual state of being for the cunicul to be in on this journey. He traipsed along behind the others in unhappy silence, which was probably better than constant whining, which would have been the other option. When Satlin breaks through the floor, Lepus doesn't exactly react quickly his first act is to try and get himself away from the edge and then to look at the others. "What do we do?!" He asks with near-panic.

Probably being up as early as Satlin is, she helps packing everything up after packing her own stuff in her backpack. Seeing that there are new tents, she doesn't bother taking down the tent they had been sleeping in.
She thanks Captain Draga for his advice, although a bit haughtily, and then follows Captain Satlin into the valley, accepting that he would probably know about this region better than she did, so he would probably know the best route to take.
At the dam, she follows Satlin's example as closely as possible, stepping over the rocks as gingerly as possible with a donkey's reign in her hands. At the sight of Satlin's descent into the ground, she lets go of her donkey immediately and jumps over the rocks until she's standing on a rock closest to Satlin's position. Then she tries to extend a hand to the Tolv, hoping to grab his.
Should she succeed at this, she shouts backwards at Lepus,
"Help me pull him out! Quickly!" realizing that she probably wasn't strong enough herself to get him out of the ground.

Meinozsé also carefully moves over to help pull the captain up, and with the combined efforts do you manage to heave Satlin back on the solid rock where he stays seated a while, looking around to your faces giving a stiff thankyou nod as if it's a normal day at the office event, but his true feelings are given away by his eye's that shine with a thankfull glow.
Meanwhile he rubs his arm that got stuck in the reigns
After a while he stands up and looks at the side of the dam
"This is a setback, we'll have to make a detour around this hole,"
meanwhile looking back at the others, especially his fellow tolvs
"and decide on some extra safety precautions"

"Given the rate with which Captain Satlin descended in the loose ground last time we will have enough time to respond in case someone slips. In the immediate surrounds you don't see any sticks, but you see something a bit up the hill and for now you use the tools that you have to go around the hole.
After a while you find piece of gnarled root stick out. When somebody gives it a pull to see if it's loose and long enough, you get it out of the ground some more that you get the feeling it might be long enough, although a clumsy tool, but also that the ground here is unstable and that you have no idea what might happen when you pull it completely free

Eyeing the root and the ground it is rooted in, Tyra nods at Lepus.
"Yes, you're right. I'll just try to stick close to the ground and probe with my sword. It'll make us slower, but falling in holes will make us even more slow."
She draws one of her swords and crouches, slowly moving forward and sticking the sword in the ground in all directions in front of her. She then tries to set out the shortest path to the top of the dam that isn't dangerous.

Tyranael has just started crouching when she feels the rope holding her back, when she looks back she sees that Meinozsé has taken her knife and is carefully digging the root out some more. When she's 5 centimers into the ground she finds it stuck between to rocks and she cuts it off just above it.
"here you go, maybe it works this way"
When moving on Captain Satlin doesn't really seem to mind to have lost command for the moment after his experiences on front. But he has hardly guided his donkey off the next rock or things start sliding away after him. And the rock he's on feels like it's going down also, causing him to quickly catch up to Lepus and then Meinozsé.
The rock he was on goes down aswell, and the one with Lepus and Meinozsé starts to move a bit, but in the end holds.
The rest of the travel up takes some detours as Tyranael finds some soft places, and there are some landslides close by, mostly below you.
In the end, after some hours of climbing you reach the top. And after hours of seeing not much more then rock and dirt you suddenly see a grand, but misty, panorama of the valey behind the dam.
The upper slopes of the mountain closing it off on your side is suprisingly green, and in the depts it looks much like the last part of your trip through the valey on the other side yesterday, but it's hard to see any details with the mist hanging in the valey.
You don't see any tracks of the scouts, and maybe just a bit of blinking where you expect the river bed.
When you look down to see if you can find a path down you notice that after 20 meters or so, the dam starts to look green like a long grassy pasture on the hill sides.

"I am a warrior, not a gardener. How should I know how fast grass grows? Sure, it is weird that this side of the hill has so much growth, but it is not something I would be looking for. I thought it might be the lack of water on the other side that prevents plantlife from growing there. Well, let's not dwell on this any longer."

Then suddenly Satlin shouts an "AHHHHH" in alarm and rushes forward dragging his donkey (which seems to understand his predicament and actually is eager to hurry along) seemingly upward as another sinkhole appears.
Tyranaels donkey backs away to keep clear of the growing sinkhole and the rocks starting to show down there.

Tyranael's donkey, manages to find solid ground under its hooves in the form of another big rock.
Tyranael herself, holding on to the reins falls into the hole till with a nasty jerk that causes a nastry cracking/popping sound from her shoulder as she dangles on the reins. The donkey momentarily sliding forward by the jerk backs away in terror draging Tyranael up and against the rock till she can get a foothold and climb a bit while being dragged.
Getting on top she collapses holding with her other arm a very sore and twisted looking right shoulder.
quite returns for a moment as an eerie silence before a storm.
Then it's broken by Captain Satlin shouting
"MEDIC!!! Vladimir get back down here!! Your needed"
And he runs over to Tyranael with a wide arc around the sinkhole

"Aah, it hurts damn it," Tyra manages to grunt between gritted teeth. Still, being too stubborn to call for Vladimir, she gets back on her feet slowly, making sure she only uses her legs. Keeping her hand carefully on the broken arm, she starts chanting, softly and with pauses in which she takes small agonized breaths.
"Great Rally... who watches upon us... and guides our lives... Please grant me... the strength to... move on... Please heal my wounds... so that I may... bring justice and peace... back to this land..."
Then she remains silent, only breathing irregularly, waiting for the healing powers of Rally to put her arm back together.

ooc: the arm is only broken in the sense of not working any more. Not the bone broken, it's a dislocated shoulder.
ic:
Satlin just stands quite and looks at Tyranael's attempt to heal herself and waits a minute while nothing seems to happen except Tyranael might seem a bit less in pain, but the arm is still unusable.
"Maybe you should try getting that arm back into it's socket before healing it. This doesn't seem to work, probably because you need summoning to magically put that shoulder back and he doesn't grant that. But I bet Vladimir can instruct me on how to do it manually for you"
And he grins a bit

Fine, apparently not even the gods wanted her to save her pride. She could take a hint (eventually). She considered for a moment to try and relocate her shoulder herself, but she was smart enough to know that would probably fail horribly. And she didn't want to jeopardize the mission.
Still clutching her shoulder, but in decidedly less pain she shoots an angry glance at Satlin before turning to the hill, and in extension to Vladimir.
"Vladimir! P..please return here. I require your assistance to continue our mission."
She still refused to appologise.

"I knew you couldn't go on without me" There's a big grin on Vladimir's face, in his opinion that Tyraneal needs him is apology enough. "I'd offer you something for the pain, but you are probable to stubborn to admit it hurts as if a group of satyr is clogdancing on your little toe." He rummages through his bag and hands Tyraneal a piece of wood: "Here, bite this, it might help". The teethmarks on the piece of wood show it's not the first time someone refuses painkillers.
"Ok let's do this, Tyraneal please lie down here, in these situations being small is an hindrance so you two", he nods at Satlin and Meinoszé, "will have to help, Lepus can take notes for the next time she makes me run away. Meinoszé please let me see your coat.. hmm it seems strong enough. Could you please sit here next to her uninjured shoulder and take off you coat? Now put your coat under her with one sleeve across her chest and one under her, so that both sleeves meet in her armpit and you can hold on to them firmly. Be careful not to tickle her! She will not like it if you make her laugh! Satlin you should sit next to the injured shoulder, take her arm and bend the elbow so her fingertips will be pointing to her beloved Rally-in-the-sky. Now we get the tricky part, captain you are going to pull the elbow away from the shoulder. Be carefull, do it gentle but firm. Meinoszé you have to pull the sleeves of your coat so Satlin won't just drag her along on her arm. Be care!
ful and pull together, how much I would like to kick her, she's a patient now and we want to restrict the amount of pain as much as possible. Satlin, while pulling you should slowly move the arm back and forth on the shoulder joint. If you keep tension on the arm while doing that the shoulder should slide back in it's socket." While telling his two assistants what to do Vladimir's absently stroking Tyraneal's forehead to keep her calm. After the shoulder's popped back in it's place he looks at Tyra: "We should put your arm in a sling now for a while, give it a rest, or do you think you can pray your way around that?"

Looking vaguely suspicious as Vladimir gives orders to the others, Tyranael is still thankful that her diminutive companion had returned. She looks at the teeth marks on the piece of wood and frowns, but she puts it in her mouth without complaint. As far as she can, Tyra listens to the orders of Vladimir and stored it in her memory, in case she would need it later. When the time comes for the actual work, Tyra grits her teeth, leaving her own marks on the stick. But soon after she appears to faint.
Moments later she opens her eyes again and looks at the arm. Smiling, she lifts it carefully and balls her hand into a fist. Satisfied with the lack of pain she uses both arms to lift herself up from the ground.
"It appears that Rally's blessing has graced me and made my injuries whole again. I will not require a sling for my arm is fully healed."
She pauses for a moment as she looks at her fellow travellers.
"Thank you for your assistance everyone... especially you, Vladimir. Now, we must move on again. We have lost too much time already."
Picking out a path, she started moving slowly, waiting for the rest to catch up before picking up a brisk pace.

Tyranael, clearly feeling better, takes the lead in the walk down through the long grass. The surroundings seem quiet with only the rustle of a breeze through the grass.
Vladimir, leading his donkey starts to get an itch at his nose as the grass tickles it regularly causing him to sneeze furiously a couple of times.
Ten minutes later, being about half way down water can clearly be seen glittering through the leaves of a patch of forest at the bottom of the dam. Well, for all except Vladimir that is standing in grass that is as tall as himself by now and it only seems be getting taller. Here and there are patches of blackberry like bushes.
The breeze still moves the grass a bit, but through this rustle there seem to be other sounds of things moving through the grass.
Satlin looks around a bit worried, urges Meinozsé to keep up and stay in the center of the group and guards the rear himself.
"I sure hope we find those missing soldiers soon, their orders shouldn't have taken them very much further then the bottom of the dam unless there is something really strange down here, and even then, somebody should have come back to give a report"
He seems really concerned about those scouts.

Lepus replies drily to Tyranael's thanks before walking off after the others. The mention of missing soldiers briongs out the typical cowardly reaction in Lepus, as could be expected. "Maybe we should go back and get more people, in case there's something dangerous. Or...to form search parties!" He adds the last bit hastily, so as to seem less of a coward.

He just goes along with the party, struggling through the grass (apparently :P ).
"Aaatsjie stupid grass, trying to get me to sit on the donkey, eh?"
"Maybe those soldiers got lost in the long grass, I know I would if it wasn't for the donkey! Or my wings.. Are you sure there are no bars around where they could have lost the way to? I've seen it happen before, soldiers that go astray and magically end up in bars or shabby taverns. The food and drink rations in the camp here could easily bring about such an incident."

Nodding at Satlin, Tyranael ponders for a moment.
"We should proceed with caution, but we should keep moving," she mainly directs this comment at Lepus, "it will take too long to go back over the dam and the path is too treacherous. Besides, we've got Rally and the sun on our side," she smiled as she held her palms open, displaying the sun tattoos.
When Vladimir makes his last comment, she suddenly turns around and looks at him for a long time.
"Are you insinuating that these soldiers have deserted? The army doesn't look kindly upon those that abandon us and it's rather rare for soldiers to do so, no matter the hardship they face. But we'll find out the truth of the matter when we find them."
She once again turned around and started walking.

Tyranael shakes her head when Vladimir tries to explain himself better, but she smiles when he compliments her tattoos.
"It would still be dishonourable conduct and the military doesn't look kindly upon that. They wouldn't be as heavily punished as real deserters, but their actions would reflect poorly upon them and their families."
She then lifts her hand and looks upon the tattoo.
"I don't know if it tickled because it hurt too much at the time. But the strength of my faith helped me through that as it did help me through more difficult phases in my life."
She remains quiet the rest of the time, carefully watching their surroundings for signs of the scouts or anything else unusual. Eventually the talking apparently bothers her and she turns around sharply.
"We should be quiet from now on. If there is a hostile presence here then we shouldn't alert it to our presence, if we haven't done so already."
She turns around again and quietly moves on.

While moving on in silence for a while you can now and then hear rustling of constant movement through the grass.
Moving your legs through the long grass seems to become slowly tougher the further you come, but maybe that's just a first sign of fatigue.
On moment Meinozsé trips over a blackberry vine hidden in the deep grass bringing the group to a momentary halt while she get's up and dusts herself off.
Captain Satlin uses the moment to gaze at the path to take down to the water and frowns a bit
"Tyranael, aren't we slowly moving left more and more to go around that bush ahead?"
Meinozsé, being ready again looks back to see if your tracks through the grass indead make a curve and looks in wonder.
"Should our tracks be visible for much longer then they are? A hundred meters back they already seem to vanish!!"
Then indicating a line from where your tracks vanish upwards
"And didn't we walk about there? But that bush wasn't there. And I also see some small tree's now on the hill, I can't remember seeing any trees besides those still down there by the water"
She looks around worried for a moment noticing there are more bushes and small trees everywere then she can remember.
"I think we should hurry up before we get all grown in!!"

Tyra eyes Vladimir quickly and shushes him, putting a finger before her mouth. Then she looks at the bush for a moment and some of the points she was using as reference.
"Hmm, yes, you appear to be quite right," she whispers, "the forest seems to be growing as we walk through it. We'd better pick up our pace and try to find a way through before we are grown in. The good thing is that we don't have to bother covering our tracks though."
She starts moving again, more quickly and making decidedly more noise as she pays less attention to where she is walking. Still, she hoped they'd find a clearing or something soon as she knew she couldn't keep up a swift pace for very long.

Meinozsé stay's close to the worried cunicul and tries to reassure him a bit
"Don't worry Lepus, I'm sure those swords of Tyranael are sharp enough to cut us a way back up the dam if that's what's needed. And look up the slope, it's not even all the way that it seems to be growing this fast. It's not like the animal life is growing fast and out of proportions as well."
The idea of that last comment seems even to worry herself a little bit making her look carefully around to see if there aren't any huge grasshoppers or worse around.
Captain Satlin has been carefully watching the grove your heading towards.
"We can handle the plantlife here, I think that grove we're heading to isn't as fast growing, so whatever is causing it might be some kind of magic to fast-forward through a series of landscape evolutions to get to a certain type, probably forest by the looks of it."
And he ignores the animal comment.
The donkeys seems to feel that there is a real need to keep up a good pace and keep it up without urging them much. You'll travel through the ever more more bushy grasslands without any serious problems, but you did make an even wider curve then planned. Arriving at the foresty patch the donkeys slow down, you hear water flowing and falling further down.
Then Vladimir's donkey suddenly takes a spurt and gallops ahead between the trees towards the sounds of water

When he looks back to shout to the others he sees them all stopped, except for Lepus who he doesn't see at all, only his donkey trudging ahead towards him. And of course he sees a bush moving just behind the donkey.
By now Vladimirs donkey seems to have vanished into the woods, although it left a pretty clear track and a while you also hear him running, till that stops as well.

The moving bush causes the cowardly scribe to yelp in surprise and he gets off to a surprisingly fleet running start after the others, easily outpacing his donkey with no intention of stopping any time soon.

Vladimir is startled by the sprinting cunnicul and forgets to move his wings for a moment, causing him to fall down a few inches before regaining himself. He was sure the cunnicul was hiding in the bush, causing it to move, Lepus voice and sudden spurt took him by surprise.

Lowering and shaking her head, Tyra follows the running Cunicul more carefully. She halts when she comes to the point where Vladimir was and surveys the situation.
"Well, at least the donkey has left us with a trail to follow. A trail that doesn't seem to grow closed behind it. Maybe we have come to the end of the quickly growing part. Well, let's move on. I don't care much for giant insects attacking us from behind or something."
She draws one of her swords and starts following the trail, ready to cut down the surrounding greenery should it try to grow back. She didn't want to do so earlier for silence purposes, but the time for silence seemed to have passed.

Startled by all the sudden movement the others halt and look suprised at Lepus as he dashes out of the bushes on all four past them towards Vladimir startling his donkey causing that to bolt after the pack donkey Vladimir was riding and vanishes out of sight the same way.
Looking at the way Lepus runs on al four makes you wonder if he has a hare in the family. The bush he left quickly comes to rest, not revealing anything that might have set of the cunicul.
Satlin, a bit carefull get's of his donkey and uses his sword to hold some branches to the side to see in the bush, revealing nothing but a blackberry vine.
Reasonable sure all is clear he remounts.
"Let's follow them"
And he takes the rear watch again spending most of his time looking over his shoulders.

Catching up with Vladimir (And Lepus or were did he come to a halt?) Meinozsé looks at the others and the trail of the donkeys.
"Let's try to catch the donkeys, they ran off with our camping gear."
And if others aren't reacting fast enough to her liking she even goes first on the trail.
Soon you all hear again something thrashing through the undergrowth, but this time it's coming towards you.

Oh no! What if someone finds it and takes it?! I must save my bag!" He lands and starts running in the direction the donkey went. He runs remarkably fast, though flying would probable be faster and more efficient.

It seems Lepus was really freaked out as he didn't manage to stop at Vladimir, so it's the four of you that are getting ready for any events.
I like to know if you prepare any actions, like if Tyranael is just holding weapons ready to defend to whatever is comming or is planning to attack right away. As soon as I have that we'll move on.
Meinozsé quickly moves back to hide behind Tyranael to defend her, and looks a bit nervously around for some kind of weapon.
Satlin dismounts and ready's his weapon to defend and keeps an eye on both the front and rear leaving the first defense up to Tyranael but ready to come to her aid if needed.

Lepus, panic-stricken quickly past his donkey causing the creature to turn it's path a bit away from him. Then past Vladimir and of through the woods in the direction of Vladimir's donkey. After a while you calm a bit and find a thick bush which the donkey clearly just went past to hide and calm down. You get the feeling the ground here is starting to get moister and the sounds of the water are suggesting it's not much further.
A little while later you hear crashing again followed by the sight of your donkey following the trail now, already a bit calmer then when you startled it.
It's past for just ten seconds or so when you hear a panicked bray and it comes racing back, taking an edge as it cuts the corner of your bush and the sounds vanish in the distance.

She puts one hand behind it's ears and one just above it's nose, while gently applying pressure, and whispering soothing words in it's ear she gets the donkey to put it's head down. "Yes, it seems that he's going to be a problem, I hope he hasn't gotten himself into any kind of trouble he won't be able to escape out of."
She steps backwards when Meinoszé comes forward to have a look at the donkey. She nods appreciatively as Meinoszé manages to calm the scared animal.
"Your mother has taught you well. I only received basic training in animal care from both my mother and the order. Although my mother was rather excellent at dealing with horses, being a Paladin of Rally and all. But enough talking for now, we have to find the pack mule and Lepus."
Looking to see if the path is not overgrown yet, she moves past Meinoszé and the calmed donkey and resumes her path.

While hiding you hear a distant conversation start but can't tell much about it. It moves closer though and you start to get the feeling it are indead the others and when about a minute has passed you can understand the last few sentences and you expect them to come into view any moment now to confirm it are indead the others.
That moment you hear a second sound, a rustling of plants, and vibration in the ground. It's hard to pinpoint a direction but seems mostly from behind. When you carefully move around in your bush to look that way it seems in the distance a dark, low, curved wall has formed in the forest, the bottompart a bit brownisch, the top half more green, you can't see an end of it and it's moving towards you.
If you turn back to look at the group you see the wall is all around, getting closer and higher. The group has also just appeard and Vladimir looks up in a way like he just hears a strange sound.
OOC: you are slightly ahead of them, I expect them to talk a little bit over what Meinozsé is saying and getting in sight about 6 spoken sentences further. If any reaction of you will get you clearly into view you can post that in their thread. If your giving a reaction earlier just post in this one and I'll bring it up the right moment.

"I'll lead the donkey, can't have this one flee again" and she winks at him, clearly making a friendly tease.
Tyranael carefully leads the group over the trail left by the donkey's. Meinozsé following her and leading Vladimir and Lepus's donkey behind her. Satlin still keeps the rear guard.
After a minute or so the trail forks as if the two donkeys both made an other choice of directions when a massive tree came upon their path. Tyranael holds in for a moment to look over both paths and then picks one without much worry. Her sense of direction didn't fool her, it leads in a reasonable straight line through the forest and a couple of minutes later the second trail joins yours again.
By now the sounds of distant water have become more clear and the ground a bit muddy.
"Don't you find it strange that we hear clearly water moving right behind a dam?" brings Meinozsé up "I would have expected a lake here, if I'm not mistaking in the capacity of the river and our current dept in the valey it should be flooded here."
Satlin looks turn a bit darker at Meinozsé's words. "That sounds strange indead, but that does mean we have less of a worry that removing the dam might cause a flood wave"
Meinozsé seem to listen carefull for a moment at the distant sounds.
"The sound has even a bit of a hollow ring to it."

About a minute/6 spoken sentences into the talk that's probably following the latest talk of Meinozsé you'll be the first of the group to hear something strange in the forest.
If you look up and around you'll notice a dark rim in the distance in the forest, all around you. It's like there's a bit of a wall there and you can't remember seeing that before.
If you spend a bit more time looking at it you get the idea it's getting closer and higher and even seeing some colour difference in it, the bottom half is a bit brownish like the ground, the top more green.
