When the gods created the first races they did this on an experimental base and they put each of their projects on a different continent. After they noticed that their projects seemed to be going successfully they let their races expand faster and spread to the other continents and there the contact between the different races started. Because on every continent the race created there was settled a long time before the others arrived it is also their language that is the base of the current language. Because of this history of the languages, all the current languages have similarities because every race has had a part in the evolution of that language, but at the same time are also very different which can result in very interesting problems now and then. It gives problems, for example in the intercontinental trade. People working in this business are often their own interpreter. But nobody speaks all the languages and dialects spoken in port cities. Because of this every port city also has interpreters that as a group cover all the languages that are regularly needed in their city. You can’t expect everybody to be good enough in all the languages.
Only in mystical and religious practice is it differently, here the original languages are still in use. They use if for ceremonials dedicated to the gods, and with that it is also used in the use of magic.
So is on ... (C2) the original halfling language used in these religious cases. On IJ-i-sage (c5) the oldest gnomish language, on Gnomania (C7) it is the language the fire-gnomes used when they set up their temples. On North-Knabosa (C4) is it the language of the tsami, on Schempa (C1) the ancient tolv language.
Only on South-Knabosa (C3) isn't it clear where the language is originating from. The language used here is an old language but it doesn't look like any known language, not even on the languages used by the dwarfs, and they are the only old race left of which it isn't known that their language has remained somewhere.
But the most interesting it is on Genidias (C6), this is because here is the original language of the fey the language of religion and magic. But because the fey are working a lot with magic, this stayed in many places also in it’s original form the language for everyday live. Only on places less dedicated to magic or build later by imigrants, and therefore less dominated by the fey, did there grow a language from this fey language. This follows the same principles as how the languages evolved on the other continents except that the language is still a lot closer to the original due to constant input from that original.
How this works under the surface with the dwarfs is completely unknown.
